1300 with a tail
More than 1300 pets became passengers of Domodedovo International Airport in the summer of 2026. The peak of four‑legged travellers occurred in July.
In June, passengers with pets chose domestic destinations. In July and August, threre was a noticeable increase in demand for international flights.
According to statistics from S7 Airlines, a partner of Domodedovo Airport, passengers most often travel with dogs; cats are transported 36% less frequently, and birds are transported 150 times less frequently than dogs.
To travel with pets, a passenger must notify the airline in advance — at least 36 hours before departure. Before the flight, it is necessary to undergo veterinary control at a specialized point on the first floor of the passenger check‑in area.
The mode of travel depends on the animal’s weight and the container’s dimensions. In most cases, a passenger is allowed to transport no more than two pets at the same time. The carrier must be made of durable, certified material, have smooth edges, and provide the four‑legged traveller with the opportunity to stand up and turn around freely. It is important that the locking mechanism reliably protects your pet from accidentally opening the door during transportation.
Animals in carriers that meet the airline’s requirements may travel in the aircraft cabin. Larger pets are transported in the cargo hold. Therefore, choosing the right carrier is an important part of preparing for a flight.
Special conditions are provided for guide dogs accompanying passengers with visual impairments. Such animals may travel with the passenger provided the following requirements are met: the dog must be wearing a collar, on a leash, and in a muzzle.
